Elaine Coleman



Elaine's newest book is Texas Frontier Foods published in October, 2003. It joins her first book, Texas Haunted Forts, published by in 2001 by Republic of Texas Press, now an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group. Linda Lay Shuler, author of New York Times Bestseller, SHE WHO REMEMBERS, VOICE OF THE EAGLE, and LET THE DRUMS SPEAK, says:

A delightful page-turner of a book, well researched and beautifully written. I loved these fascinating accounts of ghostly beings haunting Texas forts; I want to visit every one of these old strongholds. "The spirits will be there, maybe not visible, but in the wind that blows across the plains...."

Elaine also writes romance, history, and down-home wisdom. Her book Wolf's Desire, a Historical Romance, was the winning entry in the Romance Category in the Golden Triangle Writer's Guild Unpublished Authors Contest in 1998. It received 3rd place in the WESTAR First Impressions Contest in 1998, and Honorable Mention in the Fiction category at the Abilene Writer's Guild Members Contest in 1999. Passion's Gamble, a Western Romance, is finished at approximately 90,000 words and interviewing agents and editors along with its sister book. One of her Articles of General Interest Dyslexia took first Place in the Federated Women's State Convention Competition 2002 and honorable mention in the Abilene Writers Guild Contest 2002. Elaine has written many short stories and news articles during her tenor as Managing Editor of several West Texas newspapers. Her essay " Summer of the Poet" won first place in the Abilene Writers Guild July 1999 Summer Memories contest.

She is a member of several writer's groups including Abilene Writers Guild, Western Writers of America, and Romance Writers of America.
