Sue Long-TurnerSue's latest book is one of the most courageous pieces of writing ever attempted. WINGS BORN OUT OF DUST is written by Sue and her son Russ Turner about his life of addiction and homelessness on the streets of Los Angeles. Just the introductory passages set out the pathos and resiliency that typifies the book. Russ's new address will be revealed in INVISIBLY YOURS, the sequel to WINGS BORN OUT OF DUST. These labors of love come after a lifetime of writing and producing commercials for five television stations in Texas and a Las Vegas radio station. She has a published young adult novel in her name and another Kristen Michaels young adult novel published by New American Library under Signet label, titled FORECAST FOR LOVE. Sue says, Most of my freelance sales have been short stories and articles for religious and minor markets along with numerous trade journal articles. Years and years of on the job writing included multi-thousands of TV commercials produced and written, print advertising (newspaper and magazine), publicity, news releases, articles, an award-winning history of Suniland Furniture, published in a history of Houston book. I've forgotten whether I had a byline or not. The award was some sort of furniture industry award, not to me, but to Suniland Furniture. I turned out all kinds of direct mail letters and ONCE UPON A BIBLE, 26 audio Bible stories for children, written by me and co-produced with Dallas McKennon (who did the voices. Dallas was Cincinnatus, the storekeeper on the old Daniel Boone Show). You should have been around for the 15 minute television fashion shows back in the days of live television. I used 3 or 4 models and each had three minutes to change clothes before they went again before the camera. Those shows were a hoot. WINGS BORN OUT OF DUST won Best of Show and First Place in Non-Fiction Books from Monahans Writing group with entries from West Texas and New Mexico and is available at Barnes&Nobles and other Online book stores. Sue is a regular contributor to the Emporium Gazette where she's known as "The Answer Lady" writing the column "From Another Angle." You'll want to remember Sue should you need to hire writers' contest judges and to visit her's website here.
